Students receive scholarships in the field of health and social services

Drummondville, January 27, 2019 - Six students from the Mauricie and Centre du Québec have won generous scholarships to pursue their studies in the health and social services field. The scholarships were awarded by the Dialogue McGill Foundation (Better Communication for Better Care), in a framework that promotes youth leadership. The mission of this program is to facilitate access in English to healthcare services in the rural areas of Québec,by encouraging bilingual students to study in this domain. Once qualified the students are expected to return to their home region to exercise their profession. The community group, the Centre for Access to Services in English casemcq.com has the mandate to spearhead this initiative for the geographic area, Mauricie and the Centre of Québec.

The recipients for the school year 2018-19 are all enrolled full time in programs either at CEGEP or University and come from several different municipalities on the territory covered by CASE.  From the Centre of Québec we celebrate Jeremy Girard who hails from Drummondville and Jennifer Deslauriers from South Durham. From the Mauricie we are happy to celebrate Vincent Isa-Migneault and Naomie Fortin who are from La Tuque; Anabel Lafond from Shawinigan and Andréanne Vigneault from Trois-Rivières!

Each of these dedicated students is well rooted in their respective communities and dreams of contributing to the dynamism of the healthcare and social services in their part of the province. Such is the case for Andréanne Vigneault, who studies in the program, Technique for Specialized Education at College Laflèche in Trois-Rivières. Andréanne a graduate of Three Rivers Academy is happy to study in her home town,

“I love my community, there’s so much to do here, so many activities! This bursary is a great help with my college fees. I am growing from studying in this program, also the scholarship will permit me to travel abroad for my second internship and broaden my horizons”.

The Center for Access to Services (CASE) is a not for profit community group that provides support and tools to facilitate access to health and social services in English. We work closely with the CIUSSS-MCQ and community groups throughout the region.
