The St. George Foundation and CASE-MCQ present:
“Hats Off to Fashion”: The history, evolution, and social role of hats and fashion accessories, from 1945-1965. A bilingual talk and tea.
Presented at the historic St. George Anglican Church in Drummondville.
CASE-MCQ and The St. George Foundation are pleased to invite you to a unique event designed to nip the November blues in the bud. Georgette Langelier is a collector of fashion accessories, including hats, gloves, purses, and other items. Mme. Langelier, who lives in Drummondville, describes her ever-growing collection as a “mobile museum.” Forty of her most interesting and unusual hats, together with matching accessories, will be on display at the historic St. George’s church for this one-time only event.
Mme. Langelier will give a talk in French about the history and evolution of hats, focusing on the period of 1945 to 1965. The talk will include translations for English speakers. During the second half of the talk, guests will sit down to a real English tea in the church hall, including buttery scones, strawberry jam, and other treats both sweet and savoury, from old classics to new favourites.
The cost of this special event is $30 for families, $15 for adults, $10 for students, $5 for children 6-12 years old, and free admission for 5 years and under. Please reserve your place as space is limited.
