CASE is proud to announce a special duo of cultural events in partnership with the St. George Foundation and les Productions Artscène of the Cégep de Drummondville.
The concert series will feature recent and upcoming graduates from the cégep's “Virtuose” program, performing in the beautiful setting of the historic St. George Anglican Church. To add a unique twist, each concert will open with a special guest giving a short talk about local heritage in the spirit of each evening's theme.
Second Concert, March 26 at 7:30 p.m.
"Conserver le passé au présent / Preserving the Past into the Future"
Featuring Luka Bordeleau, cello; Émile Dufour, piano; Zoïk Dubois, bassoon
and Robert Pelletier, Architect
This concert shines the spotlight on gifts from the past, as well as how and why we choose to keep them in that spotlight. The music for this concert will be intimate, expressive, and classical. The rich tones of the cello at the heart of the "Virtuose" duo of Luka Bordeleau, cellist, and Émile Dufour, pianist, contrast with the resonant tones of bassoonist and current student, Zoïk Dubois, who will be accompanied by professor Douglas Nemish, a pianist who has toured and recorded internationally.
Each duo will bring to life the rich heritage of the repertoire written for their instruments, carrying forward the music from the past into the present and performing it in a location perfectly suited to this style of music. The evening will begin with a talk in French by architect Robert Pelletier, a past member of the St. George Foundation Board very familiar with the rich heritage of the site. Pelletier is responsible for a large restoration project of the church set to get underway this spring, which includes important and detailed work on the stained-glass windows.
All proceeds from this performance will go to the St. George Foundation’s restoration project.
Reservations are required for each concert and can be made by sending an email to casemcq.project.agent@gmail.com. A suggested minimum donation of $15 for adults and $10 students (children 12 and under are free) also applies to both performance dates.
This concert series is supported by funds from the Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québecois d’expression anglaise.
